Ages 18 +
Ever want to learn to throw on the potter's wheel but cannot commit to a class?
In this 2-hour workshop, a Clayworks teaching artist will teach you the basics of wheel throwing. Toward the end of the workshop, you choose your favorite pieces and the glaze color they will be finished in. We will take care of the drying and firing of your pots. Attend alone, or bring a friend, family member, or a date! Your pottery will be food, dishwasher and microwave safe.
Please note: Wheel throwing is a skill that takes time to develop, and is never perfected on the first try. Clayworks cannot guarantee the quality of finished pieces, as results depend on your work during the workshop. Glaze color cannot be guaranteed and refunds/credits will not be issued based on dissatisfaction with finished pieces. That said, we invite you to join us for a fun, hands-on creative experience, imperfections and all!

September Handbuilding Workshop: Pumpkin Mug & Leaf Saucer

Embrace Cozy Season, One Slab at a Time! Celebrate autumn by crafting your very own ceramic pumpkin mug complete with a matching leaf saucer! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll use pinch and slab handbuilding techniques to shape a textured, pumpkin-inspired mug and hand-carve a leaf tray to nestle it on. Perfect for cozy hot cocoa, apple cider, or morning coffee, this charming set will bring warmth to your fall ritual. Ideal for beginners looking to learn basic handbuilding, texturing, and vessel construction.

October Handbuilding Workshop: Fall Textured Bowl
Friday, October 2, 6-8pM
Bring warmth to your fall ritual! Using slab construction, you'll learn how to texturize your slab with stamps, additions, and rolled-on texture to shape a fall-themed bowl. Carve, stamp, and add your own personal details to craft a food-safe dish that enhances your fall decor season after season.

October Handbuilding Workshop: Halloween cat
Sunday, October 4, 11am-1pm
Add some handmade fun to your Halloween spread! Using slab construction with sculptural elements, you'll learn how to score, slip, and shape clay into a black cat with a built-in candy pocket. Personalize your cat with sculptural elements like a fun hat or bowtie, then add some candy to the pocket for a pop of color and sweetness. Finished pieces are glazed in a shiny, food-safe black glaze for a piece that's functional and fun.
Ages: This workshop is open to families with children ages 5+. All children must be accompanied by at least one registered adult

Want to have some fiery fun and take home your pottery the same day? Join Clayworks for a hands-on raku firing workshop! Participants will receive a hand-thrown and sculpted pumpkin, perfect for fall and Halloween decor, and built to last a lifetime, to glaze and fire. In this 2-hour workshop, Greg and John will teach participants crackle and luster glaze techniques and will guide them through the outdoor raku firing process.
