John has enjoyed working with clay since 1991 when a friend asked him to take a pottery class with him at the local community college. He was hooked. He has been at Clayworks since 1992 as a student and now a studio artist. John has been a member of the Carolina Clay Matters Pottery Guild since 2009. Intrigued by natural shapes, textures, and colors, he often includes them in his work, but doesn’t feel limited by them. His goal is to create good forms with satisfying variations in color and texture, and he hopes the joy he feels in the making is evident in the finished work.
