JAckie Padich
Jackie has been working with clay for over a decade. She was fortunate to find ceramics at the tender age of 16, and has been exploring the medium ever since. In 2014, Jackie went to SUNY New Paltz in the Hudson Valley for a B.F.A. in Ceramics and a B.S. in Art Education. Upon graduation she was lucky enough to happen upon an apprenticeship at Miranda Thomas Pottery in Bridgewater, Vermont. There she spent three years training as a production potter, learning free hand sgraffito decoration, slipware techniques and wheel throwing in the Michael Cardew tradition amongst countless lessons. Jackie also has a deep love for clay sculpture- her undergraduate time was largely spent refining this practice and she has since assisted and learned from contemporary sculptors such as Roberto Lugo and Beth Cavener amongst many others on her path. Jackie is interested in both utilitarian and conceptual work and loves to find the places these intersect. Her primary inspirations include nature, the dreamscape, and the universalities of the human condition. She recently relocated to Charlotte, NC, continuing her studio practice and educating the community.
