What is Clayworks?

Clayworks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ceramic arts, advancing artists and students, and enriching the communities it serves. Clayworks is proud to promote a range of educational opportunities, from clay classes for our youngest students to dedicated studio spaces for professional artists. Visit Clayworks at a free community program in local libraries and recreation centers, or come to our 15,000 square-foot facility to play with clay for in a two-hour workshop, or in a multi-week class.

Two-Hour Private Lessons

  • Clayworks offers private lessons for beginners and artists of any level. Choose between throwing on the potter’s wheel or creating a project using handbuilding techniques. Work with one of our talented instructors to make clay project that will last a lifetime. Submit your lesson request here.

  • Does your child want to have some muddy fun on their birthday? Clayworks will help you design a fun-filled, creative experience. Led by an experienced instructor, students ages 6-16 work in clay to create a piece of art. The party is 1.5 hours of hands-on creation time and 30 minutes for cake.   • Clayworks offers team building sessions for corporate and business groups. Expert instructors lead groups through clay-based projects designed specifically with cooperation, teamwork, time management, resilience and creative problem solving in mind. Learn more and contact our team here.

Community Programs & Weekend Workshops

  • Ever want to learn to throw on the potter's wheel but cannot commit to a class? Check out a 2-hour weekend workshop to learn wheel basics.

  • Each month, Clayworks offers multiple handbuilding workshops for adults and families. Check out our latest listings to see what handbuilding options are coming up.

  • Looking for a fiery clay experience? Participants ages 18+ can join a weekend raku firing session to learn this Japanese glazing technique and participate in live firings. Find an upcoming session here.

  • Looking for a free Clayworks experience in your neighborhood? Check out a Culture Blocks workshop at your local library or recreation center. During a Culture Blocks workshop with Clayworks, one of our talented teaching artists will lead the participants in a hands-on making session using a variety of handbuilding techniques. The projects will travel back to Clayworks to be dried, fired, and glazed. The workshop location will contact you with pickup instructions. Find a session near you.

  • Are you an intermediate or advanced level student who wants to explore exciting new firing and surface design techniques? Join our multi-week raku course.

  • Intermediate or advanced level students who want to explore creative surface design techniques with slips, glazes, cone 6, cone 10 gas, and raku glazing should join our surface design class.

  • Embrace your child’s creativity with weekly clay classes! Our 8-week classes run through the school year and have offerings on weekdays and Saturdays. Kids ages 6-10 learn handbuilding skills, while youth ages 11-15 are introduced to the wheel. Find out more here.
