Online Kiln request submission steps

• The studio manager will receive an email and respond Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-noon.
• The request will either be accepted or declined.
• Payment will be required before the reservation is complete. The calendar will show “PENDING” on your requested date until paid.
• Cash or Check. Please deposit in “payments” box by studio manager office.
• If you select Credit/Debit, an invoice will be sent shortly through Square.

Staff members will be loading and unloading the kiln for you, no student is allowed to load or unload the kiln. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in studio privileges being terminated. There will be a designated cart for you to place artwork you would like to be fired.
We are happy to assist you if you encounter any technical difficulties, just ask!
Kiln Rental Contract
FIRING TEMPERATURES
Please note that we fire to cone 5 and cone 06 only. We do not accept once fired work up to cone 5; all work must be bisque fired first.
DOCUMENTATION
Those renting kilns must provide written or visual documentation of the clay and glazes used and their appropriate firing temperatures. This could include a snapshot of a clay box label or a glaze bottle label if you are using clay and glazes purchased outside of Clayworks. We cannot and will not fire your work without this documentation.
BREAKAGE / POOR GLAZING RESULTS
Clayworks is not responsible for breakage of work or poor glazing results in the kiln due to maker error. However, every effort will be made to load and unload all items carefully. Staff members will be loading and unloading the kiln for you, no student is allowed to load or unload the kiln. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in studio privileges being terminated.
DAMAGE TO KILN OR KILN FURNITURE
If your clay or glazes cause damage to our kilns, you may be assessed an additional fee to replace shelves, posts or other equipment. This can range from $25 to replace a shelf to $2500 to replace an entire kiln. We will contact you if these fees need to be assessed.
FIRING TURNAROUND
Upon drop off, Clayworks staff can give you a general idea of how long firing will take. We try to have everything turned around in 7-10 days; however peak times, such as holidays, may result in longer wait times.
