Adult Outreach

Adult Outreach and partnership programs are an important part of the Clayworks mission. Its relationships with other community organizations- including The Mint Museum of Art, The Mint Museum of Craft and Design, Carolinas Healthcare System, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and Piedmont Natural Gas Company—have enabled Clayworks to develop programs for public institutions and corporate partners.
Working with the disadvantaged community is an integral part of Clayworks’ mission. The studio’s annual involvement in the Empty Bowls fundraiser, hosted by Second Harvest Food Bank, demonstrates a studio-wide commitment to the greater community—using the arts as a catalyst for helping others in need. In 2012 Clayworks artists and students created over 300 bowls for the event. In annual support of another community organization, studio volunteers worked with the homeless population to create 120 ceramic centerpieces for Urban Ministries’ annual fundraiser
