9:30am to 12:30pm
Material fee: $35

During this hands on mini workshop, Penny will demonstrate how to make various tools used in pottery and ceramic sculpture. Students will then have the opportunity to make their own set of tools with Penny’s guidance. Tools will include basic needle tools and the small specialty tools used for making finger nails and to form the eyes and nose in figurative sculpture. Additional tools will include polymer clay “thumbs” for sculpture and hand building as well as other tools for making textures and marks in the clay (hair tools, forming eye balls etc.) Polymer clay will be used for comfortable handles and other textural implements. Participants will bake the tools in class and everyone will leave with a set of tools that they can use for many years to come.
