Children’s Classes

Clayworks is proud to partner with Community School of the Arts to provide outstanding pottery instruction to children and youth.
to create brightly colored, personalized pottery. Using state of the art equipment, students
will learn from experienced teaching artists and take completed work home at the end of camp.
Clayworks is proud to partner with Community School of the Arts to offer three separate
weeks of this half-day curriculum.
KIDS POTTERY (ages 5 to 9)
This six-week class will introduce students to the wonderful potential of clay. Students will create whimsical, fun, colorful pieces of art to take home at the end of the course. Each class session will introduce a new technique of creating and finishing artworks in clay. Class tuition includes all materials.
FEE: $105— with all materials included.
WHEN: Six weekly classes, Saturdays.
Session 1: Saturdays, February 27 – April 3, 9:00 to 10:30 AM
Session 2: Saturdays, April 17 – May 22, 9:00 to 10:30 AM
MIDDLE SCHOOL POTTERY (ages 10 to 12)
This more advanced six-week class also invites students to create vibrant, fun, engaging works of art. Each class session will introduce a new technique for creating and finishing clay art. Suitable for both Kids’ Pottery Class graduates and beginners.
Students learn more advanced handbuilding techniques and will gain experience on the wheel. Class tuition includes all materials and firing.
FEE: $105—with all materials included.
WHEN: Six weekly classes. Two sessions available, both on Saturdays.
Session 1: Saturdays, February 27 – April 3, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Session 2: Saturdays, April 17 – May 22, 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
POTTERY WHEEL (ages 10 to 14)
This class requires prior wheel experience and is designed for students who have completed Middle School Pottery class and wish to continue developing their basic throwing skills. Students will learn fundamental techniques of throwing basic forms on the potter’s wheel and creating surface decoration using glazes, slips and applied elements. Students will create a series of functional pots with mid-range temperature clay bodies. Participants should wear old clothes and bring an old towel to the first class.
